Dr. David Klee, musician, educator/scholar, recording engineer and producer,
has an impressively vast and varied career. Currently an Associate Professor of Music at Buena
Vista University, Dr. Klee is the Director of Jazz Studies and Music Production & Technology.
For ten years he was a full-time musician performing on flutes, saxes, and electric bass traveling
the Eastern Seaboard from Connecticut to Miami, from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas that culminated
working with RCA recording artist Razzy Bailey. From there he went on to earn three degrees in
music culminating with the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Flute Performance from the University
of Georgia.
Dr. Klee has performed or toured with such acts as "The Lettermen," "The Four Tops," "The Temptations,"
"The Barnum and Bailey Circus," "Blackstone The Magician," "The Holiday on Ice Show," "The Ice Capades Show,"
and the "Bahamas Cruise Lines." While living in Georgia, Dr. Klee was a member of the Middle Georgia Symphony
and a guest soloist with the Macon Symphony. He was also a bassist/woodwind player for several different
performing groups and was a staff musician for several leading recording studio in the Southeast. Currently
Dr. Klee is the principal flutist for both The Fort Dodge Symphony and the legendary Karl King Band.
More recently Dr. Klee was invited to play bass for the Paul Tollitson Love Trio during the 2008 Cherokee
Jazz Festival in Iowa. He also plays bass for a jazz group based out of Fort Dodge. Dr. Klee is in demand
as a performing artist throughout the Midwest.
Dr. Klee studied flute with such luminaries as Martha Rearick, former principal flute of the Florida Symphony,
Warren Little, former principal flute of the Atlanta Symphony, Dr. Constance Lane, former principal flute of
the Columbia Philharmonic Orchestra, and Dr. Ronald Waln, flute professor emeritus of the University of Georgia.
Dr. Klee has over twenty-five years in the recording field as an artist, engineer, and producer. Dr. Klee has
been trained in Pro Tools and recently completed a Master Certificate in Music Production and Technology from
Berklee College of Music. He is also working toward national certification in Pro Tools.
