Cherokee Recording Studio

Prior to accepting the position at Buena Vista University, in Iowa, as the Director of Jazz Studies/Music Production and Technology, Dr. Klee was on the faculty of both Mercer University and Georgia College & State University in Georgia. During their time spent in Georgia, Dr. Klee and his wife, Julia, opened and operated a combination recording studio and teaching studio comprised of fifteen music teachers and over 250 students. The recording studio recorded literally hundreds of demos and albums.

After accepting the position at Buena Vista University in 2001, Dr. Klee maintained a home project studio for his own personal use. As word spread about his studio and background it wasn’t long before he needed to expand his facilities. In 2006 Dr Klee and his wife purchased a commercial building in historic downtown Cherokee, Iowa. It was a 100 year old two story building with a full basement. After gutting and remodeling the top floor of the building for their home, Dr. Klee and his wife gutted and rebuilt the main floor for a kitchen store and bakery business now called The Spice Rack. After completion was done on the main floor, Dr. Klee preceded to build his studio in the basement.

Upon competition, Cherokee Recording Studio officially opened March 2007 and has been very busy with numerous recording projects. We have recorded many genres of music including, hip-hop/rap, country, rock, classical, contemporary Christian, blues, and pop.

In 2010, Cherokee Recording Studio underwent a major face lift.  The studio was upgraded to Pro Tools 8.0 HD. Digidesign Pro Tools 8.0 HD is the industry standard for recording artists.  Whether processing audio, composing music, overdubbing film, mixing tracks, or designing and editing sound, we can compete with the best of the best!
